A Few Bible Verses

These are a few of the Bible verses I am trying to memorize this year. They all speak truth. They are all comforting and encouraging.

Which Bible verses do you find the most helpful in your daily life?

We All Have Unique Gifts And Talents

Each of us is given different a different gift and talent and each of us can serve God in a unique way because of it.

It is a special thing to find out what our talents and gifts are and to use them to serve God. It is a good thing to do everything for Him. To live our lives in a way that pleases him.

Some people are made to be teachers and pastors, while others feel more comfortable being in the background and can do good service in that way. God made everyone unique because there are so many jobs to get done.

Some people are good with words, while others are good at working with their hands. Some people will reach those who are close to them while others will travel far and wide to spread God's love.

Some people will do grand and noticeable service, while others will never be recognized for the way that they have served God.

All that matters is that each one of us is serving God. All that matters is that we are using our gifts in the best way that we can. All that matters is that we are seeking him and trying to live a life that is good and right. All that matters is that we use our own gifts and talents.

We don't have to follow anyone else's path. Only Jesus can show us the way. He is the way and the truth and the life. We should follow him.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Romans 12:6-8

We Are The Light

There are times when the evil in this world makes us afraid. There are times when we feel like it is just too much.

But, instead of thinking about the evil, we should focus on these things:

Finding the good.
Finding the love.
Being the good.
Giving love.

Because we are the light.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Matthew 5:14

And, no matter how scary this life gets, God is in control. He is with us.

Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy.
Psalm 64:1

"And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Matthew 28:20

So, when you feel afraid or discouraged, seek good.
Seek love.
Be the light. Be the good, and love, always.

Memorizing Bible Verses - it is important because they will stick with you

When I was young, I memorized Bible verses as part of the children's program at my church. And I still remember a few of those verses today.

I don't always remember the verses word for word, or with their references, though. And I don't think that that is the most important thing.

I think that just knowing the verses and knowing the point of them is enough. But, if you can take the time to memorize the Bible verses word for word and with their references, why not?

I want to try to memorize a verse a week this year. I'm not sure how it will go, but I am trying it. Even if I don't remember every verse word for word or with the reference, at least it will help them to stick in my head somewhat.

Here are my first two verses of the year:

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:31

The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.
Acts 5:41

What verses do you have memorized?

It's The New Year Already?

Each year I feel like I learn a little bit more.

I become a bit older and wiser.

But I never really feel like so much has changed.

This past year, more than any, I feel like went by so quickly.

I wish I had the time back.

But, another year is here, and there is hope for it to be great.

I want to see my faith strengthened in this new year.

I want to see myself grow more.

I want to be stronger and wiser and kinder.

What are some goals that you have for 2019?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.Proverbs 3:5-6
