Why Celebrate Christmas? Answers From Scripture

Christmas means a lot of things to a lot of different people. When we think of Christmas our minds might immediately go to the gifts we will be giving and receiving. Or, maybe we think about the tree and decorations that we put up. Or the family that we will be seeing.

All of those are good things, but what Christmas is truly about is Jesus. He came to earth and was born in a manger, lived a perfect life, and died to take away our sins.

Christmas is about Jesus.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:11

He had humble beginnings...

...And she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
Luke 2:7

His birth was celebrated...

"Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him."
Matthew 2:2

Why did God take on human form? Because he loves us.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16

It is important to remember the true reason we celebrate Christmas. Jesus was born on earth to save us from our sins. He loves us. He died for and rose again for us.

So, this Christmas, be extra merry, remembering all that God has done for you.

Happy Christmas!
